Unboxing Experience

For the unboxing here it’s quite a standard experience, with the pad flat packed in a cardboard sleeve and a sticker peel type thing for the base of the pad.

Surface

The surface is incredibly nice, more of a hybrid leaning towards speed kinda deal, the stitching is tight and slightly abrasive, it’s not very smooth and silky, it’s more of a textured feel kind of like the LGG Neptune Pro but stitching is more fine. The static friction and dynamic friction remains low with a tad higher initial force required to move the mouse than a SPEED SPEED pad. micro adjustments feel effortless while there is noticable stopping power, I love this surface, it provides good speed but is incredibly controlled for the ease of glide this thing provides, it truly is something I never thought could be done well, but the FreeFall x Haus pad did it. X-axis feels a little faster compared to the Y-axis.

Base

The most special thing about the FreeFall pads is the base. They use what they call an “SV Base” which is a hard silicone like material which sticks to my desk with no issues at all. It is incredibly stiff and it creates this cloth topped glass pad experience, every flick and swipe feels consistent and super direct, it’s quite hard to explain actually… this pad really provides such a perfect experience with every swipe and you don’t gotta worry about digging into the pad like soft bases. If you are a person to dig into your pad for stopping power, this isn’t for you.

Overall Quality

Quality here is not an issue, the pad is super flat with zero inconsistencies, it has tight surface stitching and edge stitching looks clean, doesn’t feel like a cheap pad but I don’t think it feels incredibly premium either. Just premium.

Conclusion

This pad is definitely worth a good look at. Simply put, this is a pad on the faster side of hybrid that actually has enough control and can be tamed so easily. Coming from a serious control pad, this felt easy to adjust to and trust me, I am super picky when it comes to speedier mousepads. One nitpick I do have though is the size, I wish it could be either 490×420 or 500×500 but this is being very nitpicky and the size hasn’t caused any issues anyway. Otherwise, this pad has truly impressed me and has flown under the radar for most people, if you have yet to try the SV Base before, now is the time. Oh and all this for $35 USD? Hell yea. My first ever 10/10
