SL12 Zeus X ULX Tarik - Kay
If the title is a bit confusing, let me explain a bit and also tell you how you can do it as well. The SL12 Zeus X ULX Tarik is a combination of using the top shell of the Finalmouse Starlight 12 Zeus combined with the bottom and internals of the ULX Tarik. There were a few decisions for me to make for this little project as I also have a Finalmouse SL12 Last Legend and originally this was made with the ULX Tarik and SL12 Last Legend but I decided to swap it out to fit the bottom and scroll wheel better.
Why I decided to do this:
How I feel about it:
Genuinely this is probably my favorite mouse at the current moment, I normally bounce between the Arbiter Akitsu, the Beast X mini and the Tarik but since I did this swap a few days ago I havent used any of the other mice on my desk. The cool metal of the magnesium is also a really nice experience that I loved from the Starlight 12 and in combination with the pretty damn good internals of the ULX Tarik, it is 100% my favorite mouse I own at the moment. Tarik is also arguably the best quality controlled of the Finalmouse ULX’s excluding the Competition which i have not tried, I think they really did a fantastic job with the switches and it is also the least muddy feeling out of the bunch.
How to do it:
If you want to try this mod for yourself, your going to of course first need two things, the Tarik or any other ULX, and a Starlight 12 can also be any batch, I have heard that the Pegasus also works well but I have only been able to do it with the SL12 Zeus and the SL12 Last Legend with the Tarik. Its extremely simple, you just unscrew both shells from the base with the two screws located at the back two mouse feet. After unscrewing them, you take off the top shells and swap them, you put it in the new one, it may be a bit of a hard fit but if you line it up correctly with the small latches on the base then you should be easily selling, make sure to balance out the screws when screwing them back in to make sure that its a equally tight fit on each side. Although I will warn you, there might be some slight vibrations with the combination of the metal and plastic and there being every so slightly a gap at the front, you may be able to fix this with a piece of tape or glue to make it fit better but I have not tested that yet.
Final Thoughts:
If you have the extra parts laying around, I would 100% recommend giving it a try and even if you dont like it you can always reassemble them back to their orginal state with quite ease. It is a fun and exciting mouse to use espacially due to it being my favorite shape, everything works great here for me, the only single bad thing I have had with it is the slight vibrations but its genuinely not as bad as it used to be, just make sure to screw it extra tight if you do the mod. Overall, I plan to continue using this at my main mouse for the future and I appreciate you reading my review!
