Overall Build Quality & QC
The build of the X2CL is absolutely magnificent, there is zero creaking, rattling or flexing on my unit along with a solid base and no flimsiness, QC was on point with no issues, and despite it being a light mouse, it doesn’t feel cheap at all.
Shape
Classic X2 Mini shape but shaved down in weight, to those who haven’t tried or owned an X2 Mini in their life, it seems like a shorter, scaled down version of the Sora V2 but less shrinking in of the sides from the top down to the base. It is less curvy than the Sora V2 with flatter sides and a short medium hump that doesn’t aggressively push into your palm, it’s a pretty small mouse.
Material & Coating
I am unsure as to what the material is used for this mouse but the coating feels great, nice and grippy 98% of the time unless you have just come out of the shower with dry dry hands, it shouldn’t be an issue to grip this mouse nicely. It has a subtle ever so slightly chalky feeling and does attract fingerprints quite easily at least on my black copy. Imagine the Sora V2 coating with the tiniest bit of texture (chalky feeling) to the mouse, seems about right.
Mouse Buttons
Jumping straight to the scroll wheel, the rubber grip on it feels really nice, feels light to scroll with some sort of resistance there, crystal clear steps and feels a bit plasticky but no issues at all, the click itself is a perfect click weight and tactility is crisp. Moving onto the side buttons, they are beautiful, very spammable, immaculate side buttons. They stick out just enough, nice and rounded, and perfectly positioned with no side wobbling. The clicks themselves feel EXTRA crispy and satisfying with almost zero pre travel but a noticeable amount of post travel. LMB and RMB feel pretty crisp and tactile for an optical switch but you can tell they are opticals, I have to say though, these are amongst the best feeling opticals I have tried. Depending on where you are pressing on the click, there can be some pre post travel, there is definitely a bit of pre travel and a decent amount of post travel towards the front of the click but the middle and rear are fine. There is a very little amount of side play but it is there if you try to sus it out.
Skates
The skates come as dots but I replaced them for the full sized ones, these feel really nice. They are buttery smooth but not very fast, definitely not a control skate, more a medium speed.
Software & Performance
The X2CL has a software but no web based driver which I do not really like, I very much appreciate not having to download random softwares for all my mice. With that being said, the X2CL software was easy to use and navigate through. The mouse comes standard with 8k polling which is great to see and I can appreciate. Mouse feels very responsive and on par with all the best mice on the market!
Pros
+ Great shape and size
+ Extremely lightweight
+ Good value for price
+ Quality
Cons
– No web driver
– Would benefit in feel with mechanical switches
Conclusion
The Pulsar X2 Crazylight is an exceptional mouse with some room for improvement of course, @ the price of $119.95 USD with 8k dongle included it definitely packs great value. It is however, nothing super special to look into if you already have a Sora V2 or something similar, it’s just a great mouse to play with and I can easily recommend it.
