PULSAR X3 REVIEW - Ergonomic Perfection
Introduction
One of my all-time favorite mouse shapes has been the Logitech G703. When Pulsar announced the Pulsar X3, inspired by the G703, I was excited. After testing a pre-production unit of the Pulsar X3 Mini for a few months, I’ve gathered some long-term thoughts on its shape, performance, and whether it’s worth picking up when it restocks.
Shape and Build Quality
The Pulsar X3 Mini is a smaller version of the G703, approximately 1.8 times smaller. Its shape is highly inspired by the G703, offering a narrower and slightly shorter design. The click height is lower, and the overall dimensions make it feel like a shrunken-down G703. From the top, the shape closely resembles the G703, while the side profile shows a shorter and more compact structure.
Despite being a pre-production sample, the build quality is impressive. The shell is structurally sound with no flex, and the buttons show no issues despite using the same PCB as the standard Pulsar X3. The lightweight design, at approximately 50 grams, feels balanced and solid in hand, with no noticeable tilting issues.
Performance
The official release of the Pulsar X3 features the new Pulsar XS1 sensor, a custom collaboration between PixArt and Pulsar. This sensor is a rebranded version of the 3395, offering improved battery life and slightly enhanced performance compared to its predecessor. My pre-production unit used the 3395 sensor from the Xlite V3, which performed slightly worse than the XS1 but was still solid overall.
The mouse’s weight distribution is excellent, and the low weight makes it easy to maneuver without losing control. The white model’s coating is subpar compared to the black version, but this is a common issue with lighter coatings.
Grip Style and Usability
The Pulsar X3 Mini excels in versatility, accommodating various grip styles. Whether you use a fingertip grip, claw grip, or palm grip, the shape and weight distribution provide a comfortable and reliable experience. For claw and palm users, the design feels natural and ergonomic, while fingertip grip users will appreciate its lightweight and balanced build.
Conclusion
The Pulsar X3 Mini is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a lightweight, modernized version of the G703. Its ergonomic shape, reliable build quality, and advanced sensor technology make it a standout option in the gaming mouse market. If you’re looking for an ergonomic shape with up-to-date specs, the Pulsar X3 Mini is worth considering.
