The S2P is PMM’s second attempt at mousepads, but with a twist. The two new pads made by PMM are edgeless, something we see very few of on the market. With little design and a push on performance, the S2P is very sleek and tasteful when on a desk, PMM add their logo to the bottom right and the Speed pad logo top right, keeping it very simple, which I’m a big fan of personally.

Before using the S2P, I used to swap to PMM’s C1P control pad very often, with it being one of my top contenders for a good control surface mousepad, leading me with very high hopes for the S2P, which I can say have been fulfilled for the most part.

PMM first dropped mousepads that were 500×500 only, but were packing some outstanding performance. Most people wanted them to have that 490×420 size format to allow for smaller desk sizes, and PMM listened to that feedback and has run with it for the second go at mousepads, which is very nice to see.

Surface: The S2P has a slightly textured surface, which I’m normally not a fan of, but during my time with the pad, it hasn’t been an issue at all. The surface texture is very minimal, so when you’re not thinking about it, you are much less prone to feeling like it’s hindering you or your performance.

The surface is fast for a cloth pad and could be one of the fastest cloth mousepads i have tried to date, i wouldn’t know how i would feel having giving it a small test out the box but within my 100 hours of use i have gown to be a big fan of how it played in all the games i used it in, using this in R6 hasn’t been an issue with its speed with a good amount of give when stopping power is needed in gun fights which i was very happy with. It’s nothing too crazy to the point where I couldn’t hit my shots, but wasn’t too slow to make this pad more of a balance pushing speed, which again I’m very happy with.

Using this surface with a sleeve is also no issue if you enjoy using a sleeve with your cloth pads, I personally tested the B4M from Midori, Wallhack sleeves and 4114 sleeves with this surface and all gave me no issues when using the mousepad which i am super happy with as i love to use a sleeve with a cloth pad.

However, with most first tries, there come some issues along the way. The PMM S2P is one of the very few to use an edgeless surface for a cloth pad, and it has come with minor issues on my unit. The edges of the mousepad do not sit flat on my desk at any point because of the high surface tension from pulling the surface over the edges which to me and it being minor i don’t mind it but i know for some it can be an issue and can become an issue down the line with separation which my unit hasn’t had any issues with so far and I’m hope it doesn’t happen. This issue doesn’t affect the pads stick to my desk with the base being very good at staying put during use. I was hoping that during my 100+ hours of use, the edges of the pad would lie flat, but that doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon. I’m not sure how much of an issue this is for PMM, but I hope this is just my unit with this issue. But if not, I hope a fix can be put in place if more units are like this.

Overall On Surface: I hate that there is the edge issue on this pad because its performance is really good on this mousepad, and I want to rate it higher than I would because I feel like this pad is a top performer when it comes to mid-base speed pads. The feel of edgeless is very nice to me, and I do want to see more companies take on this edgeless format for mousepads, as I think it could be done very well. I like that PMM have used a 490×420 format as it’s preferred by many when looking for a mousepad. I also had a lot of dust on this pad, and I found it harder than most to take up, again, not the biggest issue, but this pad does love its dust.

Base and thickness: The base of the S2P does its job exceptionally well for every surface I have put this pad on. During my play sessions with the S2P, it has stayed in the same place I have put it when it came out of the box, which is a very nice thing to see from PMM, but I know they want nothing but good performance from their products, so to me, it does make sense.

With the S2P coming in at 4.5mm thick, it holds comfort very well and allows for that extra control during use when needed, even with it being a mid-softness. That 4.5mm gives the S2P that very premium feeling when moving it around, which is something I like from a mousepad. But that 4.5mm and edgeless I know can have some comfort issues for people who use the mousepad closer on their desk and rest their forearm on the mousepad as they notice their notice the hump over the edge, after some feedback I had from some people trying edgeless for the first time.

Extras/Own Experience: After 80 hours in just Rainbow 6 i can say this pad is a beast when it comes to performance stats, but lacks in some areas when it comes to QC, which is a bummer as the last drop from PMM was nothing but great. With the S2P being one of few speed pads i do own i cant quiet put my finger on another surface it’s near to, or it’s matrix, but I know my good friend

@MaxwellST_, did a YouTube review on the pad and had some good points in their if your looking for some speed matrix numbers I would highly reccomend cheching it out!

Overall: PMM did a great job with the mousepad’s surface yet again and has found its way to another top 3 list of mine when it comes to mousepads of both speed and control. I really wish the edges would lie flat on this pad to give it that extra clean look, but I don’t know if that’s a fix that can be made with edgeless mousepads. But the surface and how this mousepad plays are exceptional, and I am in love with the mousepad’s surface. I recommend this pad if you don’t care about the edge lifting, because this mousepad just feels great to use because of its killer surface and well-performing base.
