Neptune Pro Review
DISCLAIMER: Pad was sent to me by Lethal Gaming Gear for review but will not alter my opinions.
The Neptune Pro is Lethal Gaming Gear’s take at a speed based cloth pad and this is their pro series of pads which are the more premium line up of pads, the unit that was sent to me is the 490×420 soft variant. Let’s get into the review. Mice used for the test: Ninjutso Sora V2 w/ Xraypad Jade Skates Technical Specifications: • Poron base • Speed pad • Not rough or abrasive but not silky smooth either • Dark grey colour • Soft stiffness • 490×420 variant tested • Price: $55
The quality is just absurd really, it feels super premium and does not feel like a cheap pad in any way shape or form. Edge stitching is clean and tight, the cloth itself is very fine and flat with no inconsistencies, the base is beautiful, clean elegant design what more do you want? Everything just feels like quality to the touch, now to make things clear, this isn’t an out of this world cloth pad, it’s just well made and a good in-stock mousepad option coming from LGG for $55.
Came flat packed nicely very similar to that of Artisan pads, nothing much to say here.
The base used in the LGG Neptune Pro is japanese SlimFlex aka a variant of poron. As you all know, Artisan pads use poron, and it is bloody great. My soft variant has a nice bounce to it, feeling hard enough to not dig in but also feels good on stopping power for the speed that it has and it grips to my desk without any movement but isn’t what I’d call sticky.
I love the surface on this thing. It’s not a very smooth glide like the lamzu energon pro or the artisan raiden, it’s definitely a bit more abrasive compared to the 2 but is by no means rough like hien or hayate otsu. Texture is a bit smoother than artisan zero and the closest to my quaoar perseus. X axis definitely feels faster than Y axis in terms of speed but not by a lot, just enough to tell.
Speed wise, this pad doesn’t lack at all. The speed feels quicker than the raiden soft if not feels easier to flick. The static and dynamic friction are both very low with static ever so slightly higher, the pad feels super consistent throughout and has surprisingly good stopping power FOR A SPEED PAD, it is by no means easy to stop though as it is well… a speed pad.
Very very nice pad, super premium and in my opinion feels on par or if not, more premium than Artisan. The pad is denser compared to Aritsan’s Raiden too and you should NOT overlook this pad when choosing a speed pad, pricing is slightly higher at $55 but I’d say it worth it. However, if you’re on a budget, the original Neptune is good enough for most, if you want the best quality and performance, the pro would be the way.
