Finalmouse has become a controversial company as of recent times due to QC issues, high price tag, delays/lack of truthful updates and just an overall lack of innovation which funnily enough, is one of Finalmouse’s main advertisement points. Does the UltralightX Competition beg to differ? Let’s find out.

Overall Build Quality & QC
The shell feels very sturdy throughout the whole mouse except the hump, the hump is a little bit flexy as expected but it realistically won’t matter as you won’t be squeezing the hump that hard anyways. The carbon fiber feels a tad cheap but it most likely is because of the raw carbon fiber implementation with no real coating and thinner material for weight reduction, it just doesn’t feel like a $189 mouse but there’s no realistic issue here.
Material/Coating
As stated before, the mouse is made of a carbon fiber composite material with a matte UV clear coat coating only, it doesn’t feel too grippy and can be a bit slippery at times when your hands are very dry. With a bit of moisture though, it was fine for me most of the time.
Mouse Buttons
Scroll wheel is identical to the one used in every ULX until now but I feel like my one has a lighter tactility for the scroll, you can still feel every bump quite well though. This makes the scroll a little easier to scroll but just still a very mid physical scroll wheel, the click is firm but not stiff. LMB and RMB were light, crisp and spammable with the RMB being a tiny bit louder and crispier on both my units, the pre travel was minimal but the post travel wasn’t so great, it seems as if the plastic is too soft and the tolerance isn’t perfect. Side to side wobble is very minimal and tight on both my units so props to Finalmouse for actually getting it right this time, side buttons as usual are peak, light, crisp and no pre/post travel. Finalmouse side buttons were always perfect in every way to me.
Skates
Virgin PTFE skates come stock with the ULX Competition and are good quality skates on the harder side, it’s in between jades and obsidians in terms of speed, feels similar to corepads and are a medium speed.
Performance
One of the best performing 2k and 4k wireless polling I’ve tried, seems flawless to me but I really couldn’t tell the difference from 4k to 8k at all. Just flawless performance, amongst the best for flagship mice these days.
Conclusion + TL:DR
Overall I think the ULX Competition release was one of the best releases from Finalmouse, no QC issues (for my units at least), no real problem which makes it a solid mouse competitive within the market. However, it still doesn’t justify the $189 price tag, there’s just many more better options out there with just as good performance for half the price nowadays and makes this mouse hard to recommend, this will personally be my new main mouse as this shape has always been a shape I’ve loved. The ULX Competition is what Finalmouse should’ve been since the very beginning.
