Unboxing Experience
Starting off with the unboxing experience as usual, the box for the Scyrox V6 really is one of the greatest if not the best in its price range. After taking off the cardboard scyrox logo, you can open the box and the mouse will be lifted up towards you. It’s just a beautiful presentation.
The box also closes with magnets so it’s very easy to store and re-use. Inside of the box, we can find 2 sets of skates (corner and full size), a cable and and the 8k dongle. The dongle is very unique-looking and it matches the colour of the mouse, and same goes for the wire. I really like the thought behind this packaging and I think it really makes them stand out among most companies.
Weight
The V6 is advertised with a weight of 40 grams, with my copy coming in at 41 grams (with skates installed) which perfectly aligns with the 1 gram possible error reported in the specs list. Thanks to a very well done weight balancing, the mouse feels great in hand and it really just feels extremely firm in spite of the very light materials used. Keep in mind that the V6 is also a solid-shell mouse with no holes whatsoever, which makes the weight way more impressive if you think about it.
Shape
Build Quality & Coating
Build quality wise, we’re talking about an extremely light mouse which, of course, involves very light materials used. But, in spite of that, the shell is very sturdy and doesn’t flex at all. It features omron optical switches, which have proven to be extremely good in many recent releases. The click implementation on the V6 feels great, with absolutely no pre-travel and only some post-travel which doesn’t really affect performance. Side buttons are also crisp and spammable. The scroll wheel steps are quite light but not enough to be scrolled accidentally, the only issue I was able to find is that the scroll wheel click is quite heavy, definitely too much for my liking. That aside, my copy doesn’t have any issues and it’s been a real pleasure to game on so far.
The coating is solid—not slippery at all. I’m using the light blue variant, which holds up great even with sweaty hands: I haven’t had the chance to try the other variants, black and white, but I haven’t heard of any difference between them from other reviewers and players.
Performance
Performance-wise, the V6 offers up to 8K polling rate OUT OF THE BOX, with no need to buy a separate dongle, and it offers incredibly responsive and precise input. As usual, be mindful of when you choose to use 8k polling, because not only it’s going to drain your mouse battery, but it’s also gonna be very heavy on your pc. Only use it if your PC can run it with NO drawbacks! Sacrificing precious frames for barely noticeable latency is not going to be worth it. I have mainly been gaming on 4k polling, but I have tried all the different settings and it all went smoothly, with no skips, stutters or anything. The battery lasts for quite long when playing, but I’ve noticed it doesn’t charge as fast as I’m used to with other mice. It hasn’t been an issue, but whenever I left my mouse to charge while having dinner, I realised I was never coming back to it being fully charged, which easily happened with mice like the Hyperlight or the Viper V3.
Software
Skates
The default skates are very good, I’ve only tried the full sized ones and they’ve felt amazing to use on both cloth and glass, although I’d say they felt better on cloth. I would say they’re on the faster end of stock skates, very similar to Lamzu skates if not probably the same.
Price Tag
The V6 comes in at the wild price of $69,99, with the 8k dongle included. This is probably the best price I have ever seen for such an amazing mouse. You really won’t see anything get close to it for the same price if we look at retail prices. Maybe during some special sales, but even then I wouldn’t be too sure of it.
Conclusion
Overall, this Scyrox release has been very impressive, bringing back the old HTS shape and making it cheaper, with just minimal flaws. At its price point, it’s a solid choice for gamers wanting top-tier features without dropping a lot of money. If you’ve tried it or are considering it, let me know your thoughts in the comments!
