Top 5 Summer Mousepad Roundup
Introduction
In this roundup, I’ll be covering my top picks for July’s mousepad releases, featuring a mix of control pads, speed pads, and a balance pad. These mousepads have been tested extensively, and I’m excited to share my thoughts on them.
1. Kurosun Samurai – A Top Control Pad
The Kurosun Samurai has quickly become one of my favorite mousepads of the year. This control pad offers an excellent glide, fantastic edge stitching, and a solid base. I gave it a five out of five in my written review, which is a rare score for me. The glide is smooth and controlled, and everything about this pad feels high quality. It’s a top-tier choice for anyone looking for a control-heavy surface that doesn’t sacrifice glide.
2. Ghost Glide Courage – The Speed Pad Champion
The Ghost Glide Courage is one of my favorite speed pads at the moment. I’ve been using it with the Sora V2 and Ghost Glide Cyclones, and the glide has been exceptional. The pad is consistent and provides a perfect balance of speed and smoothness. I gave this pad a five out of five as well in my written review. For speed, it sets a high bar, making it one of my go-to choices when I need a fast and reliable surface.
3. Pads Smith Crucible Speed V2 – A Close Competitor
The Pads Smith Crucible Speed V2 is another solid contender in the speed pad category. This was one of my first Pads Smith pads, and it did not disappoint. The surface provides a smooth, fast glide, and the stitching is very well done. Some users have mentioned issues with the weave loosening up, but I didn’t encounter any such problems. The closed-cell PU base did initially struggle with sticking to my desk, but after spraying it with water, it held firmly in place. Pads Smith is working on a V2 of this pad to address these issues, so this will only get better.
4. ESPTiger Tang Dao X – A Soft and Comfortable Control Pad
The ESPTiger Tang Dao X is part of ESPTiger’s Tang Dao series and stands out for its soft, thick 6mm construction. It offers a great deal of control with its soft surface, which provides more play when pushing the mouse down for extra stopping power. Even though it’s labeled as a speed pad, this pad feels more control-heavy once you break it in. The base and stitching are both excellent, and it’s an extremely comfortable pad to use daily. This pad is definitely one of my favorite control options.
5. Freeall SV Base Control Plus V2 – Unique and Reliable
The Freeall SV Base Control Plus V2 is one of the most unique control pads I’ve tested. It features an extremely thin and hard surface, supported by a hardened base to give you control without any added play. While it initially felt strange to use due to its rigidity, the surface provides fantastic stopping power, making it perfect for tactical shooters like CS:GO and Valorant. I paired it with both Cyclones and Ghost Glide Vortex skates, and the Vortex skates provided the most control, making it a great choice for those who need precise stopping power.
6. Ghost Glide Dream – The Ultimate Control Pad
The Ghost Glide Dream has become one of my top control pads for the year. It offers a very tactile, control-heavy surface with minimal glide, especially when paired with Vortex skates. The base is extremely stable, and the edge stitching is clean, with the stitching positioned below the surface for added comfort. The artwork is stunning, and the quality of the materials is top-notch. After putting over 70 hours of in-game time on this pad, it’s safe to say that it’s one of my favorite control pads for the year.
Conclusion
This roundup highlights some of the best mousepads I’ve tested in July, covering a variety of surfaces and performance types. Whether you’re looking for a control-focused pad, a fast speed pad, or a versatile option, these pads have proven themselves in both comfort and performance. As we move towards the end of the year, these will likely be among my top picks for the best mousepads of 2024.
Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps you find the perfect pad for your setup!
