Quaoar’s premium v2 range of pads has been a joy for me to use over the last few months, they have shown me both quality and performance in each mousepad. When I first saw Quaoar’s Hercules white mousepad I knew it was a mousepad that I wanted to own at some point to both review and use as it is one of the few mousepads that I have seen and I had only heard good things come from the mousepads.
HERCULES: I got the 490x420x4mm in all the mousepads as it worked best for me on my desk and I knew it would be my preferred size for the mousepads but 3 out of the 4 come in the 510x500x4mm size format.
For me, the Hercules is one of the more controlled mousepads in the lineup out of the 4 but with a rougher surface texter with the surface stitching being visible by the eye along with the mousepad feeling more like a mid-hardness to the pad with the ROGERS INOAC PORON base. Quaoar claim all of their pads use anti-fray precision stitching beneath the surface to enhance durability without removing the comfort factor of the mousepads and that is something that I have to agree with, in my time of using the mousepads and more specifically with Hercules I have zero issues with fraying or surface or sub-surface issues with the pad even with the surface stitch more apparent than others.
However, I did feel like I needed to wear a sleeve when using this mousepad as the surface feeling could get irritating during play sessions once my arm would get warm which made me sway away from this pad for a little while after using it. But for me, for $41 I think you could get a better and more enjoyable mousepad but you would just miss out on the great-looking white pad.
The packaging of all the mousepads is a single packed flat pack cardboard with no extras inside of the boxes, this could lead to pads being damaged in transit.
OCEANUS: This pad for me had to be my least favourite pad out of the box. Again this pad much like the Hercules is a mid-hardness mousepad but with a speed surface rather than a controlled surface, with this the surface of the pad was extremely rough and became very scratchy and unpleasant to use even at the start of a play session.
The OCEANUS is the fastest mousepad out of the 4 which again comes in the same 2 size formats. The surface of the OCEANUS picked up a lot of hair for me and would always pick up dust which made me dislike it even more but that’s not to say it didn’t come with any positives. When using a sleeve that surface feel goes away and makes the mousepad usable for me and it delivers a very consistent surface performance with a very high level of quality like the rest of the mousepads.
The colour of the mousepad always pops on your desk and is 100% an eye-catcher, the base of the pad is the same ROGERS INOAC PORON which does make the pad feel very nice when using wrist movements. This leaves this pad as my least favourite but if you are someone who uses a sleeve even on cloth and you are in the market for a new speed pad I can recommend it if you can work past the surface feel.
PERSEUS: Quaoar’s Perseus mousepad comes in 3 colour options and the same 2 sizes, the colour options are: Orange, Grey and FE Green. I personally got the orange which worked for me but all other colours also look great. The Perseus is one of the better mousepads out of the 4 being a soft controlled surface with artisan levels of quality and performance.
The surface is a standard weave, providing a smooth touch to the skin making a sleeve not needed for this mousepad, i performed very well in-game with this mousepad as when pairing with the right skates this mousepad felt endgame for me to use but this mousepad is not a mudpad as with the right skates it can feel a lot like a balanced pad with more control then speed which is nice to be able to swap the feel of the pad between.
For me, this pad is one that I can recommend to anyone to try out as I think it’s one of Quaoar’s best mousepads they have produced out of the V2 range and it’s a mousepad that I will be coming back to in the future. But as much as this pad is great, there are also better options within the $41 price range but if you are someone who can fit orange or green into your setup then I would recommend this mousepad and/or you are looking to try a Quaoar mousepad.
AETHER: The Aether mousepad was one of the pads that I used last and one I wish I used sooner because it’s one of the best-feeling mousepads I have ever experienced to date, the surface of the pad is so incredibly smooth to the touch feeling silk-like.
The pad itself is a speed pad with some control with that control with the mousepad’s smooth surface which creates a lot of surface friction with the right skates allowing you to make this pad feel like a speed pad or a control pad at any given time.
With the Aether, I needed to make the LOD of my mice 2mm because of the surface of the mousepad and tracking issues but that is the only negative thing I have to say about this pad. For me, the blue colour of the pad stood out but didn’t quite fit with the theme I go for at my desk but if you are someone who has that blue theme I think the Aether fits perfectly if you are looking for something with high quality and consistent performance. This pad only comes in the 490x420x4mm size format.
OVERALL: I think if you are someone like me who is looking for a high-quality range of mousepad’s then looking towards Quaoar’s brand is something I think would give you some of the best mousepads for your money.
For all the mousepads there are no sounds such as zipping or rubbing, 3/4 don’t trap any dust inside the pad, below the surface stitching for 2 of the mousepads and the ROGERS INOAC PORON is very soft, premium and has a good stick to the right surface.
Every mousepad that I have tested and talked about here are some of the highest quality products I have to date and they stand out with popping colours, high and consistent performance and great quality control and are something that I can heavily recommend to someone who is looking to buy a new mousepad.
