Hey everyone, welcome back to a new article! Today, I’m gonna talk about a very special mousepad called Kinomori. What’s special about it, you may ask? Well, it’s the first mousepad release from 9kings, a new brand that was born right here in our community, created by one of us. Big shoutout to @tiny9k for the passion he’s put into this project. Let’s see what they cooked up with this edition.

Unboxing

The Kinomori, unfortunately, doesn’t have a specific packaging. It came rolled and in a cardboard box. It’s a shame that it doesn’t ship flat, especially considering the importance of our pad sitting firmly on our desk. The packaging itself did a good job in protecting the pad during shipping, but it still doesn’t lay 100% perfectly flat after some use.

Sizing & Design

This mousepad comes in the classic 500*500*3mm size, with a very nice anime-style design in cold colours. I enjoyed the artwork on the pad and, although a lot of people in the community have been slandering anime designs on mousepads, I think this one is special because it’s telling its story through the fabric, and it’s not just being thrown on the pad out of the blue. And, spoiler alert, she won’t be the only character we’re gonna see from 9kings.

"Kinomori is the last of her tribe, seeking revenge for the ones who have wronged her."

Base

The Kinomori features an anti-slip rubber base that doesn’t have any specific design or customisation. It can be pushed around if enough pressure is applied, but overall it sticks to the desk quite well. One thing that I personally didn’t like was the fact that the pokes out of the sides of the base and, while not affecting the its “stickiness”, it kind of ruins the clean black look of the base.

Surface

Now, let’s get to the surface. It features thin edge stitching sitting slightly lower than the surface in order to allow more freedom of movement. It is crafted using premium materials, a smooth polyester-cloth surface. The surface of the Kinomori feels like a control-leaning balance and it felt good to use during my gaming sessions, although I’ve noticed it has created a few slower spots after some time.

Availability

The Kinomori is currently only available over at the official website https://9kings.gg/us/kinomori, and it’s priced at $40.

Conclusion

The Kinomori is definitely a good first release for such a (now) small project like 9kings, featuring the key aspects of the brand and being the first of many characters we will see appearing in these products. I am very proud of what Tiny has been able to achieve after so much hard work and I genuinely hope this project keeps getting better and better.
